Maria writes about mussels...
“Attached is the recipe for my mom’s mussels. It’s not fancy or elaborate but it’s quite tasty.”
This dish was very simple to make once my husband helped me remove the "beards" (an extension of the mussel primarily composed of iron to help mussels hold onto rocks and ships). As Maria mentions in the recipe text, the mussels are delicious served with french fries or bread to help soak up the delicious broth. A belgian beer would be a complimentary addition as well!
Interesting Mussel fact > Mussels have been cultivated for almost 800 years in Europe and have been used as a food source for more than 2,000 years.
