Gallo Pinto is the national dish for both Costa Rica and Nicaragua and while it may be eaten at any meal, it is most commonly served for breakfast. In Spanish, Gallo Pinto means 'spotted rooster', perhaps because of the small chunks of red pepper and black beans that dominate the dish. (Source: Wikipedia).
